Terms of Service
Please read these Terms carefully. By using Scout, you agree to them.
1. What Scout is
Scout provides educational information and troubleshooting guidance only for irrigation systems, ponds and water features, and landscape lighting. Scout is a self-help tool designed to help homeowners and property owners understand their outdoor systems.
Scout does not provide engineering, electrical, plumbing, construction, legal, consulting, contractor, or other professional services. Use of Scout does not create a contractor-client, consultant-client, engineer-client, or professional services relationship of any kind.
2. How recommendations are generated
Recommendations are based solely on information provided by users, including photos, measurements, descriptions, and equipment details. Scout cannot verify the accuracy or completeness of submitted photos, measurements, descriptions, site conditions, or equipment conditions.
Scout may utilize artificial intelligence and automated systems to generate responses. AI-generated responses may contain errors and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for decisions involving safety, construction, electrical systems, water systems, or significant financial expenditures.
3. Your responsibilities
Users are solely responsible for evaluating and implementing any recommendation provided by Scout. Before implementation, users should:
- Independently verify the recommendation is appropriate for their property and situation.
- Arrange utility locates before any excavation.
- Obtain any required permits.
- Comply with local building, electrical, plumbing, and safety codes.
- Engage qualified professionals when the work involves risk or specialized expertise.
4. No warranty
Scout does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, suitability, or successful outcomes of any recommendation. Scout is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Users assume all risks associated with implementing recommendations.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scout is not responsible for any property damage, water damage, flooding, irrigation failures, pond failures, lighting failures, equipment failures, personal injury, financial loss, or damage to neighboring properties arising from use of the service.
Scout's maximum liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
6. Your content
You grant Scout permission to store, analyze, process, and utilize content you submit (photos, descriptions, equipment info) to provide the service, respond to your requests, improve the platform, and develop Scout's knowledge base. Where practical, submissions used for training or educational purposes may be anonymized.
7. Changes to these Terms
Scout may update these Terms from time to time. If material changes are made, users will be required to re-accept the latest version before submitting new tickets.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
